What’s Going On?
It’s been a pretty uneventful two seasons since the end of the tournament, and the fan worship has gone back into hibernation until 2010. That’s IF they qualify for that tournament, and by then the team will be quite different.
Their last foray into ‘friendly’ territory ended up being a 0-2 loss to Uruguay, which was a fitting score. I know you can’t judge a team by one or two exhibition matches, but it’s clear that the team is more in transition than ever.
Park Ji-Sung has sustained a knee injury, and I hope this doesn’t bode poorly–I’d hate for him to go the way of Lee Dong-Gook and miss out on further tournaments. He still hasn’t been able to crack the starting line-up at Manchester, and had he been healthy, I think we’d have seen him in action against Milan.
