Leading up until the World Cup, all kinds of things can happen to determine who makes the final roster. Guys like Robert Pires (too old; currently in a slump) and Djibril Cisse (talented but unreliable) are given all manner of opportunities to speak to the press about ‘how much’ they want to be there, but for some, it never happens.
Here’s another decent article concerning the decision-making process; more specifically, how Advocaat’s hand might be tipped by great performances in the K-League as opposed to players who’re playing (or bench-warming, as the case may be) abroad.
