The Official World Cup 2006 Soundtrack

Instead of the dinky sing-along themes that so often come along at this time, here’s an open call for all of you to come up with songs that could be found on a soundtrack for the World Cup. Songs like ‘World In Motion’ by New Order are disqualified due to uber-nationalism inherent in the song. Ditto too obvious selections like “We Are The Champions” by Queen, or that crap song Ricky Martin did for France ‘98. So I went through my extensive collection and tried to come up with themes for handballs, breakaways, bench-warmers, strikers, free kicks, referees–see it for yourself and come up with more, please.

We just hope S.Korea can play even better this time and win the tournament!!! (Because of the time in difference with Korea many of the games will be screened in the early hours of the morning. So Wake Up for the World Cup! Is a good theme!)
