The ‘Les Bleus’ Blues?
Here’s a great article by John Brewin on the ESPN site espousing the unpopular (but ever gaining momentum) devil’s advocate viewpoint regarding France this time around.
Are France past it? I still say we can’t count them out, but serious contenders to the cup, they are not. And whatever anybody else thinks, a downspiraling France is good news for Korea, who’ll need every advantage they can get.

In my humble opinion, the French will be the biggest disappointment.
I’ve got them advancing out of the group; however, in my brackets, I’ve picked them tied with S. Korea on points. (I’ve actually got France going out as the 1st place team on goal difference.)
Even though I’ve got them winning Group G, I call them a disappointment because with the talent that they have, they should be contenders to win it all. As it is, I have them losing in the 1/4-finals.
Part of the problem, for me, is that the French are loaded with individual talent, but they seem to play as individuals too much.
Of course, during thier great run in ‘98 and 2000, they had the team mentality to match their talent. However, I just don’t see it anymore.
This is a perfect group for S. Korea, who can (somewhat) shock everyone. Good luck.
