Taeguk Warriors Return Home After Long Tour

February 17th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

After five weeks living out of suitcases on the road, South Korea’s players will be enjoying the comforts of their own beds. The team has returned home after a tour that took them to the Middle East, Hong Kong and the United States. The team is certainly feeling better about itself after defeating Mexico. This put an end to an inconsistent tour that saw lossed against United Arab Emirates, Denmark and Costa Rica, as well as wins against Croatia and Mexico. Throw in a draw against Greece and you see that the team ended up with average results.

But more important than the final scores of the friendlies was the opportunity for the young bucks to get into playing shape and to gain international experience. Coach Dick Advocaat continues to implement his offensive-minded system and frankly it is taking time for the offensive benefits to show up. There is not much reason to be concerned at this point, but if the team isn’t able to put in some goals against Angola on March 1 I might start to question Advocaat’s system.

For now, welcome home lads. Get some rest and be prepared to begin training in a few days.
