South Korea Beats Syria 2-1 in Asian Cup
Well, that one turned out to be a little tougher than we thought. In a game largely dominated by the away side, South Korea downed Syria 2-1 in Aleppo, Syria. Lee Chun-soo’s second-half goal proved to be the game winner as South Korea started its 2007 Asian Cup campaign on a winning note. It looked like it was going to be all Red Devils early on when Kim Do-heon scored in the fourth minute, but Syria was able to withstand the Korean charge and got the equalizer from Firas Al Khatib four minutes into the second half. Said South Korea coah Dick Advocaat after the match: “I’m pleased with the result. They played long together and definitely got better and played good games,” he said. “I’m content with what they did.”
If Advocaat is pleased, then so am I. A win is a win, even if it isn’t pretty. Next up, a friendly against Angola on March 1 in Seoul.
