Korea Begins Tough Overseas Tour

In addition to gaining valuable preparation for the World Cup, South Korea’s players will be racking up the frequent flyer miles in the next few weeks.

The Korean team has arrived in Dubai for the start of the world tour that will take it to Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, the U.S., and Syria.

With the Korean domestic league ending in December, the training is seen as an opportunity for the players to stay fit and for some of the younger players to earn a spot in Germany this summer. While players on other teams might grumble about the rigourous schedule, the Korean players seem eager to get going.

Lee Chun-su: “The results of this training camp will decide how we do in Germany. I started training right after the K-League win. I’m confident I will make it and walk out smiling in the end.”

A schedule like this could backfire on the Koreans, but I think in the end it will do more good than harm. The players will stay active, get used to playing a number of different styles and be able to bond with one another as they sit on planes for hours with one another.
